About UsThe Whitecourt Wolverines Junior Hockey Club was founded in August of 2007.
In it's inaugural season, the team thrilled fans with an appearence in the league final taking the then first place Peace River Navigators to a 7th game before finally losing the league championship.
In the club's next 3 seasons, the Wolverines went on to set a new standard in the N.W.J.H.L becoming the first league franchise to win 3 consecutive Championships and provided the league with the best ever showing at the Hockey Alberta Provincial Tournament where in the 08/09 & 09/10 seasons the team won Silver Medals.
The team is the operating arm of the Stark Sports Society. The Stark Sports Society is a registered not for profit organization dedicated to youth. The Wolverines made the society home at the beginning of the 11/12 season and work year round for the advancement of youth opportunities in both sport and education.
Whitecourt Wolverine home games are played in the newly renovated Scott Safety Centre in Whitecourt Alberta.
In May of 2012 the A.J.H.L announced to move of the former St Albert Steel to Whitecourt and with the move came the merger of the 2 organizations. With a change in the team colours from the traditional white, gold and black came a new look of Red, White and Black.
The change marked the entry of Whitecourt into the prestigious A.J.H.L ranks of which only 16 communities can boast having such a franchise.
