#1 WOLVERINE FAN LOREN CASE HOSPITALIZED

LOREN SHOWS TRUE "WOLVERINE" SPIRIT

The entire Whitecourt Wolverines Organization was shocked to hear that the team's biggest and most dedicated fan was hospitalized last week in Barrhead & University of Alberta Hospitals.

Loren, who has been a fan of "the boys" for as long as there has been a team is the namesake of the "Loren's Cup" annual pre season benefit game hosted by the Wolverines in each of the last 4 years. Local charities benefit each and every season from the game. Before and after the annual event, Loren attends to center ice to drop the puck and award the cup to the winning team. However, it is understood that no matter who wins, the cup is returned to Loren for safe keeping until the next season's game.

Loren has become an instrumental part of the Wolverines over the years as he will go into the dressing room with the team prior to the start of each game and will then again at the end of the game to provide support and encouragement for the team. It is a role that is cherished and valued by anyone who has ever played for the Wolverines.

In his capacity of the team's number 1 fan Loren has made sure that the players understand what the most imporatnt role is; and that is to give back to the community and those less fortunate. In this role the Wolverines have learned what it is to be a human being first, a role model second and a hockey player third.

In the past Loren has been recognized by the provincial government for his contribution to those with disabilities which to those of us who know him find interesting as he is simply the most able of anyone in our organization!

The Wolverines are proud of our fan, mentor and brother Loren and wish him well in his recovery as we will need him in the upcoming playoffs. Without Loren in our dressing room it will like us not having skates as he is the spirit behind the team or as he calls them "His Boys".

For those of us who have had the chance to meet Loren, we should take a moment to remind ourselves of some of the lessons he teaches us by just being Loren...encourage everyone, help anyone and look after each other no matter we win or lose.
