SWEEP! WOLVERINES MOVE PAST KINGS IN 4 STRAIGHT

WHITECOURT TO MAKE 5TH STRAIGHT APPEARENCE IN N.W.J.H.L FINALS!
WOLVERINES UPSET THE #2 JDA KINGS AND AWAIT WINNER OF FSJ / NAVS SERIES
The Whitecourt Wolverines have once again kept with tradition and will be playing in the N.W.J.H.L Finals after eliminating the Grande Prairie (JDA) Kings in 4 straight games.
The trip to the finals will keep the streak alive for a 5th year in a row that has seen the various Wolverine squads play for the Senators Cup. As an expansion team in 2007, the Wolverines faced the Peace River Navigators and have gone on in each year of the teams existence to play for the league title.
Since that series the team has won a "hat trick" in winning 3 consecutive Championships along with some Silver Medals at the annual provincial tournament.
With the win on Saturday Night at the Scott Safety Centre, Head Coach Norm Lacombe said, "We went into the series with a bit of a rough start in game 1 that saw us have to dig out of a 4 - 1 deficit before winning in OT. We talked about team discipline and once we achieved that we were basically able to take the power play away from the Kings.
Although losing all 4 games, the Kings brought a fierce offensive attack in games 3 & 4.
At the start of the 3rd period, the Kings broke a 1-1 deadlock quickly taking a 3 - 1 lead with 2 quick goals.
The Wolverines responded with a deliberate game plan that resulted in scoring 4 goals with Samual Lauzon getting the game winner on a power play shot that crawled across the goal line after the intial stop by the King netminder.
The Wolverines will now take a well deserved break and begin preparations for the finals.
So far in the playoffs, the Whitecourt squad has yet to lose a game.
