WOLVERINES & NAVS LIVE UP TO SERIES HYPE
FIRST 2 GAMES "NAIL BITERS" AS TEAMS BATTLE TO THE N.W.J.H.L CROWN
The Whitecourt Wolverines & North Peace Navigators have given the fans a series to watch so far in the 2011/12 edition of the NWJHL Finals.
With the first 2 games in the books the Wolverines have jumped to a 2 games to 0 lead in the series on the backs of 2 games which saw both teams battle for 60 plus minutes.
In game 1 the Wolverines battled back from a 4 to 1 deficit to win with 00:16 seconds left on the clock to win by a score of 6 - 5. Game 2 saw the Wolverines reverse roles with the Navs by jumping out to a 4-0 1st period lead but then had to fight off a surging Navs offence that came back to tie the game in the 3rd 7 - 7.
William Cloutier scored in the 4th minute of overtime to give the Wolverines thier second win. Jean Marco St.Pierre scored 4 goals in the contest followed up by Nick Bourgeois who also had 2.
With the Senators Cup on the line as well as a trip to the Hockey Alberta Provincials, both teams will again face off in Game 3 in Peace River at 8:00 pm Tuesday Night.
